The suspense film genre recently has been fairly unimpressive, at least I can’t think of anything since Phonebooth that I really enjoyed because of its storyline and simple premise. When I heard that Sandra Bullock and George Clooney were going to be in a film based entirely in space I wondered if it would be good, and the trailer looked pretty solid. So a couple of weeks ago I went with my friend to see how Sandra and George work together and now here is my Gravity movie review.
Man of Steel

When I was very young my parents took me to see the first Superman and apparently when I saw him on screen I exclaimed “Look at the big man!”, so following from that early event in my life and the intriguing trailers I decided to give this latest remake, Man of Steel, a shot.

Having quite enjoyed his first film in this reboot series I decided for my birthday I’d see where Abrams went with the story in Star Trek Into Darkness.
Total Recall

Following on from seeing Dredd and several other remake / reboot movies over the last few months I decided I had to go and see the 2012 version of Total Recall. The Arnie version is practically comical now if you watch it back with one liners littered throughout the script, so when I saw this trailer and got the impression it was trying to take the concept a little more seriously it had me intrigued.
Dredd 3D

There have been so many “reboot” films lately that when I originally heard there would be a new Dredd film I groaned a little, then thought that actually perhaps the Stallone one could do with being knocked off that spot. If I’m honest the fact that you saw his face in the 1995 film (yes, it was almost 20 years ago) meant that the film was more a riding on the name of the lead actor and other stars than the character. So my friend Pete and I decided we wanted to give it a shot, so off to the Savoy we toddled.
Iron Sky

It was my birthday yesterday, and what greater treat could there be than going for a steak with friends followed by a crazy movie … and this was certainly out there. Literally. Nazi’s on the moon out there. More of a film for those who are movie buffs, the scene paying homage to Downfall was particularly amusing but blatant however there were a lot more to pick up on.
